Earlier this year, Mari, K, E and I found ourselves at Watts on Crown for dinner. It’s a short walk from Central Station and is super easy to locate on the corner of Albion and Crown Street.
There was a decent amount of seating upstairs however our small party was seated on the first floor with a great street view. The decor was lovely and the interior felt warm and cosy. The service was also great.
We shared a number of dishes from the very extensive menu:
From the Entree (between $3.50 – $15)
Roast fig, goats curd, rocket, almond, grilled tomato and cucumber salad
Fried whitebait with black pudding, rocket and green chilli salsa
From the Mains (between $18 – $30)
Goat’s cheese and pumpkin ravioli with almonds and parsley; Confit Baby duck leg with rhubarb, braised red cabbage, warrigal greens and Agro Dolce sauce; Parmesan polenta with eggplant ragout and grilled asparagus
And for dessert (from $12 to $20 for the cheese board)… we shared the epic Chocolate Fondant with vanilla bean ice cream and nut caramel – yum!
Some of these items are no longer on the menu as we went in July 2012. However, the food was beautifully presented and delicious. The atmosphere was cosy and lively – perfect for an intimate dinner on a cold, winter night.
So I highly recommend Watts on Crown and will certainly be going back to try their breakfast and lunch menu (and I’ll tell you all about it too!).
