DeLonghi Coffee Machine for Dinner Parties

A little birdie told me that DeLonghi’s new Eletta coffee machine is being launched this month. So I went along to try a previous model, the PrimaDonna XS coffee machine (launched last year), to see what all the fuss was about.

I love the taste and smell of coffee even though I only drink decaffeinated coffee myself. I treat myself to a decaf cappuccino every so often so I can taste the difference between a good and poor quality cup.

So I was very impressed with the café-style cappuccino that was made within minutes from the PrimaDonna XS machine. Not only is it sleek and clean-looking, but it’s also very simple to use. Those Italian craftsmen at DeLonghi (a company established in 1902) really know how to make their coffee machines.

Pour your coffee beans or powder into the top compartment. We used decaffeinated powder for my cappuccino.

Choose your coffee – a latte or cappuccino; short, medium or long coffee or; extra mild or strong taste.

Next, at the touch just one button, the creamy froth required for milk-based coffees such as cappuccinos and lattes is made.

Sprinkle some chocolate over the cappuccino and serve. It’s that easy!

Here is the latte the girls made while I sipped my cap.

The machine is also quite simple to clean with its automatic cleaning technology.

The Eletta machine has a few more enhancements including a ‘LatteCrema’ system for even creamier and denser cafe-quality milk froth. The Eletta also remembers personalized settings for up to nine people (four preset milk coffee and five black coffee settings).

Although both the PrimaDonna XS and Eletta machines are a little pricey at just under $2,000, it’s an investment. I could save money by making coffee in the morning instead of buying it on the way to work and also impress my friends with café-style coffees when they come over next. If you’d like your own PrimaDonna XS or Eletta machine, head to your nearest Harvey Norman or Good Guys to try it out – I think it will be worth it!
