Royal Randwick Racecourse

Crust Gourmet Pizza invited a few bloggers (including myself!) to the races to try out their new Mobile Pizza Bar.

It was my first time going to the races at the Royal Randwick Racecourse so I was super excited! Anticipating cool autumn weather, I wore a jersey dress and black suede pumps, both bought in Hong Kong a long time ago. I accessorized with a plain black clutch and a pretty white fascinator (for just $24.99!) from Lovisa.

We arrived at the gates at midday and wandered around the lower level filled with themed bars, live entertainment and fun stalls.

Afterwards we made our way to the third level of the Grandstand where we could watch the races. Boyfriend placed a few bets and we enjoyed some drinks and hot chips on the balcony facing the city before the race.

The race was over within a few minutes and you know what? We won a little money!

So we decided to leave on a winning streak rather than placing more bets on the next few races.

But before we left, we had to use our free pizza and drink vouchers from Crust Gourmet Pizza! Their Mobile Pizza Bar was parked on the Ledger Lawn, tucked away and almost hidden at the end of the lawns, a little far away from all the action. The serving counter and kitchen was on the lower level and a rooftop bar with stools and tables was set up on the top level.

Boyfriend chose the classic Hawaiian pizza and I went for a more adventurous Peri-Peri chicken. My pizza was very tasty – tender marinated chicken pieces, slices of sweet roasted capsicum and caramelised onion topped with bocconini and Peri-Peri sauce. The ratio was to my liking – more fresh ingredients to a smaller amount of cheese and sauce. So it’s a fresher and healthier pizza option.

I guess we weren’t the only ones who thought so because they had a steady stream of customers despite their obscure location.

After enjoying our pizza and bottled water outside on the lawns, we headed home. We were happy with stomachs full of delicious pizza, and a little extra cash than before!

Thanks for our afternoon at the races, team Crust!
