It’s that time of year when our pretty city lights up with Vivid Sydney! The entire CBD comes alive after dark with light installations projecting interesting images onto some of Sydney’s most iconic buildings.
There are so many events and things to do like:
– Vivid Lights: simply walk around the Rocks, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour and enjoy the lights installations,
– Vivid Music: : watch live music at the Rocks or the inner west and CBD, or
– Vivid Ideas: for talks and workshops, click
here for the full list.
Beforehand, you can get a taster for the light show at one of my favourite bars in the city – O Bar, on level 47 in the Australia Square building. The bar is inside a circular building in the heart of the city and revolves. So you can sit anywhere and see all of Sydney’s iconic buildings within an hour or so.
O Bar is also serving a Vivid Sydney-inspired Pink Ruby Cocktail until the festival ends on the 9th June. The PR team behind O Bar were kind enough to treat us to the Pink Ruby and a plate of tapas. The friendly and attentive staff explained that the cocktail is a mix of Grey Goose Vodka, raspberry liqueur, rhubarb puree and fresh lemon all topped with crushed ice (for $18). It’s called a ‘Pink Ruby’ (instead of a red ruby) because it contains pink rhubarb, and the pretty glow is from a little LED light at the bottom of the glass.
The cocktail was super refreshing and tasted fruity, sweet and lime-y. Boyfriend and I also enjoyed some tasty salmon and lamb tacos with our drinks.
All the drinks and tapas were very reasonably priced considering that you are also paying for one of the best views of the city.
It really was the perfect location to see the city and get a taste for Vivid Lights. I highly recommend heading up to O Bar to enjoy a drink, tapas, Vivid and the stunning views. And remember, if you buy two Pink Ruby cocktails, you receive a complimentary plate of tapas!
Thanks O Bar for a lovely evening!
