Tasmania… for the second time

In January this year, my fiancé (then boyfriend) and I spent almost a week in Tasmania.  But I only just uploaded the photos from my DSLR onto my computer (that is, in September!) and now I can hardly remember all the places we went to! So much has happened since that trip… But looking at all the photos brought back memories of relaxing road trips between towns, delicious food, beautiful scenery and friendly people.

We flew into Launceston and stayed at Quamby Estate.

We visited a salmon farm where we fed salmon and found a small and peaceful waterfall…

Then stumbled upon a lovely spot for lunch nearby with the prettiest gardens.  I had a beautiful soup with garlic bread and ginger beer, while my fiancé had a pot pie with tea.

On the way to Freycinet, we stopped for yummy savoury crepes at Mount Elephant Pancake Barn.

In Freycinet, we stayed at Edge of the Bay, one of my favourite places in the world.  They have small, self contained units that are literally on the edge of the water.  You wake up with wallabies and the sea at your doorstep, and go to sleep listening to the gentle lapping of waves.

We brought home fresh oysters from the Oyster Farm (where we could barely find a seat!) for lunch on the balcony.

We dined at Richardson’s Bistro pretty much every night because of this view… and the reasonably priced and delicious food.

We walked around Cape Tourville Lighthouse.

On the way to Barnbougle, we stopped off at Bay of Fires which was the highlight of the trip for me.  The white sand, light coloured ocean against the red rocks took my breath away.  I didn’t expect it to be that beautiful.

Our last stop was Barnbougle (this photo is from our last trip) where my partner continued on to play golf with a friend, while I flew out to Brisbane.

I love Tasmania. I can’t wait to go back there soon.
